For the second year running, Racing NSW & Equestrian Australia have announced their $1m Equimillion competition.

Showcasing versatility and suitability of Thoroughbreds for an extended career off the race track, riders will have the opportunity to compete across four disciplines; Eventing, Showjumping, Dressage & Show Horse, with awards offered to Junior, Amateur and Open Professional competitors within each division.

A new introduction to the competition this year is the Equimillion New Star Thoroughbred Classes (ENST), whereas the nomination and entry fee will be waived for newly retired thoroughbreds. To be eligible to nominate for this category, the retired thoroughbred racehorse must have been retired from racing within the year of the Equimillion annual competition (after 1st October 2023).

This years competition will be held across four days on the October long weekend at the Sydney International Equestrian Center.

Competition Dates

Friday 4th October – Dressage
Saturday 5th October – Show Thoroughbred & Eventing Dressage
Sunday 6th October – Eventing Jumping & Cross-Country
Monday 7th October – Jumping

Gosford Race Club is proud to continue their support of this incredible initiative by sponsoring three riders to compete in this years competition.

Gosford Race Club will be offering three sponsorships valued at $1,000 (+ GST) each, to cover the successful riders nomination and competition fees.

To be eligible to apply for Gosford Race Club funding, applicants must have completed one or more of the following conditions;

  • Have ridden trackwork for a registered Gosford trainer within the last 12 months
  • Worked for a registered Gosford trainer within the last 12 months
  • Own or compete with a thoroughbred racehorse that has raced or trained at Gosford in the last 5 years

Successful applicants will be determined by representatives of Gosford Race Club and contacted by phone and email on Friday 30th August 2024. An announcement will follow, naming the three riders competing on behalf of Gosford Race Club. Riders must be available for regular photo and media opportunities.
