Gosford’s provincial-midway championships qualifier is on tomorrow and is the only race in the series to be run over 1200m
. All horses will be competing for the $150,000 prize purse and the chance to run in the Provincial – Midway Championships Final at Randwick on Saturday April 9.
It’s a strong field for the race including three of our local trainers Tony Newing with Alpha Go, Grant Allard with Majestic Shot and Adam Duggan with Miss Fox.
Alpha Go trained by Gosford trainer Tony Newing has been in preparation for the Provincial – Midway Championships over the last few months and was sent up to the Gold Coast to boost his benchmark points to be eligible for the series.
Alpha Go’s preparation has been tailored this heat and will do his connections proud.
Fortunately, with our new polytrack the rain hasn’t stopped his preparation and he has been able to keep his fitness up for tomorrow’s qualifier.
The 4-year-old bay mare Majestic Shot out of Shooting to Win has had an impressive start to her career with a total of 5 wins from 8 starts.
The Gosford trained mare dominated her career early with 2 back-to-back wins before a spell then coming back stronger with another 2 wins including one at her home track.
With a win and a place in a Listed race on soft going at Rosehilll under her belt and a spell she is looking to be a great contender for tomorrow’s qualifier.
Adam Duggan trained Miss Fox is a talented local horse who won on her home track over a 1200m distance before she went on a 6-month spell
In her career Miss Fox has had 2 from 5 wins on a heavy track so tomorrow’s track shouldn’t be an issue for her.
We wish Tony Newing, Adam Duggan & Grant Allard the best of luck.
