At Gosford Race Club, the safety of our horses, jockeys, and racing community is always our top priority. Unfortunately, our race meeting on 27 March 2025 could not proceed after Race 4 due to track conditions that were impacted by several factors, with the weather playing a significant role in affecting surface safety.
Track Inspection & Remediation Plan
Following the early conclusion of the meeting, our Track Manager, Stephen Scollard, conducted a thorough inspection alongside Racing NSW stewards and senior metropolitan riders. After careful assessment, it was determined that the track required immediate attention to ensure optimal racing conditions moving forward.
As a result, Gosford Race Club have implemented a comprehensive remediation plan starting immediately. Our team is dedicated to ensuring that Gosford Race Club continues to provide a safe and high-quality racing experience for all participants.
Michael Cusick, Chairman of Gosford Race Club, commented on the situation, stating: “While it’s always disappointing to see a race meeting cut short, safety will always come first. We fully support the decision made by the stewards and riders and are taking immediate action to ensure our track meets the highest standards for future events.”
Upcoming Race Calendar & Major Events
While we are reviewing our race calendar to accommodate necessary adjustments, we want to reassure our members and racing fans that key events such as ANZAC Day Race Day and stand-alone Coast Race Day will proceed as scheduled. Michael Cusick emphasised the club’s commitment to delivering exceptional race days, saying: “Our team is working diligently to ensure the upcoming events remain unaffected, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to the track.”
