MEDIA RELEASE | Adam Crouch MP – Member for Terrigal
The Entertainment Grounds is set to benefit from a brand new $3.4 million all weather polytrack at Gosford Racecourse, thanks to funding from the NSW Government.
Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast and Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch said the funding would help to deliver a new, all weather polytrack.
“This new track will give the racing community of Gosford and the Central Coast access to the first class facilities they deserve,” Mr Crouch said.
“This investment will not only ensure the ongoing sustainability of racing in our region, but importantly it will allow local trainers to compete with Provincial and City based trainers on an equal footing in respect of access to modern training infrastructure and facilities, allowing country horses to be more competitive.
“We love our racing on the Central Coast and we are starting to prove ourselves as one of the leading jurisdictions for thoroughbred racing in the country. This is an industry that supports more than 850 jobs across the Central Coast.
“This is fantastic news for the Central Coast as the flow-on effects of these upgrades will reach every corner of our community as people flock to Gosford for the races, staying in local hotels, eating at local cafes, and shopping in local stores.”
Minister for Better Regulation and Innovation and Minister responsible for racing Kevin Anderson said thanks to this funding from the NSW Government, the Central Coast will have access to a world class training track.
“Earlier this year the NSW Government announced the single biggest investment in regional racing and I am pleased to announce that Gosford racecourse will receive this significant upgrade as part of that funding,” Mr Anderson said.
“The racing industry is the backbone of many regional communities, contributing over $3.5 billion annually to the NSW economy and acting as a significant employer right around NSW.”
Chief Executive Officer of The Entertainment Grounds, Daniel Lacey thanked the NSW Government for their investment.
“Gosford raceclub has been in existence for well over 100 years and is an established racing & training venue. The new track safeguards horse training on the Central Coast for many years and will increase local jobs as the volume of horses trained at Gosford Racecourse increases.
“Everyone associated with the club are excited to begin seeing the benefits of this investment.”
