The Sky Provincial Series has returned for its fourth year this summer and is a welcomed addition to the summer racing calendar for the five provincial clubs and their trainers.
The series is a fantastic opportunity the provincial clubs and is made up of five qualifying races with varied distances over 5 weeks. The first heat kicks off in Wyong on Saturday 6 November, followed by Kembla Grange, Gosford, Newcastle and Hawkesbury.

Each heat is worth $40,000 with first, second and third of each heading to the series final at Newcastle on the 18 December with a prize pool of $150,000.
The heats are exclusive to provincial trainers and all nominated horses must’ve had its last three starts with a trainer from one of the five provincial clubs in order to be nominated.
Previous winners of the summer provincial series include BOBBING trained by Bernie Kelly (2018), OCCUPY (2019) and ITZ LILY (2020) both trained by Kris Lees from Newcastle.

Of $40,000. 1st $19,700, 2nd $7,150, 3rd $3,750, 4th $2,200, 5th $1,300, 6th $1,100, 7th $1,000, 8th $1,000, 9th $1,000, 10th $1,000, Equine Welfare Fund $400, Jockey Welfare Fund $400.
Class 5, Set Weights, No age restriction, No sex restriction
Restricted to horses trained by a NSW Provincial trainer in accordance with the 5 provincial clubs of PRANSW. To be eligible a horse must have had its last three starts for an eligible provincial trainer. SET WEIGHTS – Class 5 – 59kgs Class 4 – 57.5kgs Class 3 and below 56kgs. Fillies and Mares allowed 2kgs. No allowance for 3yos. If a ballot is required it will be done on benchmark order. 1st 2nd and 3rd qualify for the final 18DEC21 NEWCASTLE. Once qualified, horses are NOT permitted to run in another Heat and MUST run in the final unless scratched by Stewards with a Vet’s Certificate. The 4th placegetter from each heat will be declared an emergency for the final in benchmark order. If equal Benchmark then by lot.

As a result of the postponement of Kembla Granges race day on Saturday 13 November, there heat of the Sky Provincial Summer Series has been rescheduled to be the fifth heat on Saturday 11 December and will now be a Class 5 Plate (1500m). The new schedule of the series is as follows.
