Summer racing heats up with the Tooheys Central Coast Carnival to hit Gosford
The Entertainment Grounds is heading into the Summer racing season with a new look Summer Series and Central Coast Carnival proudly sponsored by Tooheys. The series includes a strong seven feature race programme boasting over $1.7 million in prize money.
“This is the second year that we have adopted the carnival format instead of one feature raceday. We are lucky enough to hold a Group 3 and three listed races thus enabling us the quality to hold a decent racing spectacle. However we always review our programming with the view to improve both quality and quantity of the fields.
This year we have condensed our format from three days into two and moved the guineas, which is now scheduled to run three weeks earlier on the 28th December. The reason for the move was to allow the top three year olds the opportunity to run in this race before they try their hand at the Magic Millions. There is just over two weeks between the races which is sufficient time for a horse to run in both. Not to mention this year’s prizemoney has been increased $10,000 to $160,000 thanks to Racing NSW’s recently announced minimum increases.”
We have also increased the time between the class races so that it should allow for horses to progress through the series.” Lacey stated

All of our ‘Gold’ sponsors are still on board with Gosford Quarries sponsoring the Gosford Gold Cup, De Bortoli Wines sponsoring the Takeover Target and Gosford RSL taking ownership of the Belle of the Turf.
