VALE PETER NORRGARD
The Gosford Race Club is deeply saddened to report that former club Chairman Peter Norrgard passed away on the morning of Friday 28th June 2019.
Mr Peter Norrgard served on the Gosford Race Club Board as a Director since its incorporation in 1989 until he was elected unopposed to succeed Malcolm Cusick as chairman in 2005 after serving as Vice Chairman from 1986. He retired from the Board of Gosford Race Club at the AGM on 25 October 2010.
Prior to the club’s incorporation Peter was a committee member of the former ‘Agricultural and Citrus Association’ that resided over Thoroughbred and harness horse racing along with greyhounds and the Gosford regional show.
In addition to his services to Gosford Race Club, Peter served as Chairman of the Newcastle, Hunter and Central Coast Racing Association and was a member of the NSW Harness Racing Authority Integrity Assurance Panel as well as a member of the Racing NSW Appeals Committee.
“We are deeply saddened by Peter’s passing, he was a great servant of the industry, a stalwart of GRC and one of the last links from a board perspective to the golden era of the club throughout the 70’s and 80’s. He will be sorely missed by the industry and club. We pass on our condolences to his daughters Sandra & Lisa and families.” Stated Michael Cusick, current club Chair.
Peter was a very well-known and respected member of the racing industry, he gave a great deal of his time and efforts to the sport he loved. His dedication to horse racing was cemented in 2016 whereby he was honoured with the ‘Ted McCabe Recognition Award’.
Peter is survived by his two daughters and their families Lisa and Sandra.
